About Us / Directions

Royale Air Service is the only Air Transportation to Isle Royale and is an Authorized Concessioner of the National Park Service.

As the only air service, we are by far the quickest and most exciting way to reach the Park.  In our seaplanes everyone gets a window seat and with your pilot as your personal tour guide, it is a sight-seeing flight you won't soon forget.  In fact, we have many passengers whose sole purpose of going to Isle Royale is to experience our flight. The National Park lies in the deep blue waters of Lake Superior, 70 miles due north of the Michigan peninsula.

We make regular runway takeoffs and landings at Houghton County Airport and smooth water landings and takeoffs in the protected bays at Windigo and Rock Harbor.  Operating an amphibious Cessna 206, we can carry up to 4 passengers plus the pilot with 50 pounds of gear per person.  You'll be able to board our plane at the airport, enjoy breathtaking views of the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan and Isle Royale, and step onto the dock at the Park a mere 35 minutes later.

Our motto is simple; "Safety First"
As an FAA Certified Air Carrier, Royale Air Service has met the rigorous government standards required to carry you safely to your destination.  But we don't stop there.  With our ongoing maintenance and training programs, we continually insure that nothing is left to chance.  We will never fly unless it is safe to do so.  Our pilots are all highly experienced with varying backgrounds in commercial, military and bush aviation.  By keeping it simple; "Safety First, " we allow you to sit back and enjoy your trip with us.
